Nashes' House, Derryinver Quay

What does the accommodation include?

The cottage is built on an open plan design. On the ground floor, there is a large living room/dining room (with stunning views of the mountains in one direction, and the sea in the other) off which there is a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, shower and WC. There are two good-sized bedrooms.

Upstairs in the gallery there is a double bed, and in the bedroom alongside, are three single beds. There is also a washroom and WC.

There is a large turf fire in the main room, as well as two night storage heaters, and additional electric heaters

Dogs are most welcome.

Connemara

What can you do when you are here?

Tully Mountain is an easy climb from the cottage and there are wonderful views in all directions from the top. The walk along the road in either direction is equally satisfying.

You are welcome to borrow our bikes if you wish to go slightly further afield; unfortunately our boats are not available for use as there is no rescue service.

Connemara is noted for its wonderful sandy beaches. The nearest (at Renvyle) is about 10 minutes away by car. It’s ideal for dog walking as well as swimming. The beach at Glassillaun is also well worth a visit.

For the more serious hill-walker, the Twelve Pins are a good challenge. Ranging from 400m to 730m high, they provide excellent walking and climbing, and feel far off the beaten track.

There are horse riding facilities at Tully, and all sorts of water sports facilities at the Killary Adventure Centre. There are plenty of opportunities for fishing and, of course, for bird watching.

What is included?

The kitchen is well-equipped with a washing machine, electric cooker, micro-wave, fridge freezer, and enough utensils for a large party!

We have plenty of duvets – single and double – bedding, towels and tea towels. Please wash any bedding etc. that you use and hang it up to dry before you leave.

We do not have a phone or TV in the house. There is an internet/wifi box, for which you can buy top-up credit.

Where can I buy supplies?

There are excellent supermarkets at Letterfrack (3 miles away) and at Tully Village. For a wider variety of shops, you will have to visit Clifden or Westport.

How do I get to Derryinver?

If you’re planning to drive, take the ferry to Dublin or to Rosslare. There are fast roads across the centre of Ireland; the final 55 miles from Galway takes about an hour and a half.

There are flights from various UK airports to Knock (1½ hour drive), or Shannon (2½ hour drive).

How do I book?

We ask for donations of £75 per night (or the equivalent in euros) towards the running costs of the house. This includes turf and electricity.

Please note: the house is normally reserved for our family between mid-July and mid-September.
